At the end of July, the new Crown Street Car Park opened to the public. Offering 541 new spaces it replaces the old car park that demolished in 2009, due to irreparable issues with the concrete structure.
Since 2010 the site was used as a surface car park for 236 spaces, so this new space is welcome news to the town’s visitors.
Pedestrian access can be found adjacent to Crown Pools on Crown Street. Entry after 2pm is a flat charge of £2, it is open until 11.30pm and it is an ideal parking location if you are visiting the Regent or the New Wolsey.
It operates a pay on foot system and has several spaces for charging electric vehicles.
It is a key element to improving Town Centre accessibility and is a welcome new addition to the Town’s car park offer. Situated to the north of the Town Centre it is a convenient car park for the following destinations, Christchurch Park and Mansion, Crown Pools, Ipswich Museum, Ipswich Art Scholl Gallery, Sailmakers and the Cornhill.
