The Cornhill welcomed the Spring last weekend with a packed programme of events. On Saturday the square played host to Bring Back Retro Gaming, a local group of gaming enthusiasts who popped up with a large selection of retro games. It attracted gamers of all ages, who enjoyed many retro computer games including Marion Kart and Super Smash Bros. The oldest console was from 1986.
On Sunday the Cornhill welcomed its first Farmers Market. The organisers, Suffolk Market Events already run award winning markets throughout Suffolk in locations including Sudbury, Lavenham and Bury St Edmunds. Despite the intermittent rain there were a great number of visitors, sampling and buying some of the best local produce Suffolk has to offer. From gin garnishes to goat’s cheese, vegan donuts to vegetable plants, mushrooms to macaroni cheese there was something for every taste and budget. The Farmers Market will be coming to the Cornhill on the first Sunday of each month, with the next one scheduled for Sunday 5th May.
On Monday the Cornhill water feature was switched back on, a very popular feature with the younger visitors who made the most of the warm weather. The All About Ipswich Deckchairs were placed out for the day making it a great place to linger and enjoy the square.
